This weekend I volunteered at the Women in Media national conference at Bond University on the Gold Coast. Specifically, I was working with the uni’s journalism students producing their stories in the pop-up newsroom, alongside their tutor, Rob Layton.
I’ve launched another writing initiative - life stories - so fingers crossed it takes off like a rocket shooting for the moon! Or, in these modern times, NASA’s Rover heading to Mars.

Almost this time last week, I was on the banks of the Tweed River at Tumbulgum, marrying my running friend Susan to her gorgeous man Stephen. It was the most beautiful location, with Wollumbin (Mt Warning) towering into the bright sky behind us.

This week I was tasked by The Guardian with writing the obituary for First Nations elder, actor, musician, activist and storyteller Jack Charles who died suddenly at 79. It was my first time writing about an Aboriginal person who had died and I was very aware of the cultural sensitivities of doing so.
